As a kid born in 1979, I slept on Star Wars bedsheets and carried a Star Wars lunchbox to school. It’s that they opened all sorts of ancillary revenue streams and essentially became a part of the air. It wasn’t just that the movies made money. Hollywood acted quickly to remake itself in the image of Star Wars. The initial Star Wars movies had changed the face of cinema, and they’d inscribed themselves on the imaginations of entire generations.
